More Info

Neko Case: While Neko Case has been in the music industry for a while, it's her 2009 album, Middle Cyclone that has caught the attention of audiences and music critics around the world. The album and Case's tour dates have showcased a unique sound that straddles the bold line between indie and country and has become a mainstream music sensation. While Neko Case might not have any albums on the foreseeable horizon, she does have plenty of tour dates in 2011, including dates in support of My Morning Jacket.

Neko Case led a fairly nomadic childhood as an Air Force brat, eventually settling in Tacoma, Washington. Due to a dicey home life, Case left home at the age of 15 and led the even more nomadic life of a punk drifter, sticking mainly to the Pacific Northwest. In 1994, Case moved to Vancouver to attend college and began drumming for local punk and country bands, including Cub, Maow, and The New Pornographers. The latter brought Neko Case a fair amount of success and brought the drummer her first tour dates and recording experience; Case continues to play with The New Pornographers to this day. Shortly after releasing The New Pornographers' debut album, Case moved to Seattle released her debut solo album, The Virginian. Neko Case only sang on the album and was accompanied by her tour date backing band, Her Boyfriends, while showcasing her alternative county skills. While initially exhibiting a straightforward country sound, Case would develop a darker country sound over her next few albums and tour dates, all of which would receive a fair amount of critical acclaim.

Neko Case began receiving mainstream recognition upon the release of her 2006 album, Fox Confessor Brings the Flood. The record received almost universal acclaim and became one of the top independent albums of the year. Even with the success of Fox Confessor Brings the Flood, Case's 2009 album, Middle Cyclone would receive even greater reviews from fans and critics. Not only did the album shoot higher up the indie charts than her previous, the single "People Got A Lotta Nerve" became a hit on the radio and television. The album's themes of naturalism and animal stewardship became a huge hit with critics and fans, to the delight of Neko Case.

The album's success has sparked a number of tour dates in 2011, including some opening for My Morning Jacket. Case is currently finishing up a solo concert schedule, which ends on July 10 on her old stomping grounds of Seattle. Beginning on August 7, Neko Case will begin opening 2011 tour dates for My Morning Jacket, ending on August 23 in Philadelphia. Neko Case's final tour date of 2011 will be at the Hollywood Bowl in LA on September 11. For all of Neko Case's tour date information, be sure to check Eventful regularly.
